EMERGENCY RELIEF

Mosul First Response

Mosul - Iraq's second largest city and home to roughly 2 million people - has been occupied by the militants of the Islamic State for over two years. On October 17th, 2016, federal Iraqi government forces launched a much anticipated ground offensive to retake the city.

Civilians inside Mosul have suffered from ISIS's increased brutality, isolation, and food and medicine shortages. As fighting continues, many civilians have fled the airstrikes and street-to-street fighting to safer territory. Many have stayed in their homes, waiting for the violence to end.

CNSF is well positioned to provide rapid response, emergency relief to the people of Mosul in newly re-taken areas and has been doing so since the offensive began at the end of October, 2016. Our logistics set-up includes a warehouse in Erbil, complemented by a forward operating storage facility in east Mosul. Meaning CNSF is well positioned to deliver critical support to the most vulnerable, once our Field Team have conducted needs assessments. We have a second storage site identified in west Mosul which will be operational as soon as the security situation allows.

All of our work in Mosul is conducted by our local Field Team who are doing amazing work in extremely challenging circumstances. Their competencies in key areas are developing all the time through a series of formal training and on-the-job-training opportunities.

AID DISTRIBUTION

We provide general aid distributing to displaced Mosulians in camps, with particular attention to items that women are in need of. Items include: water, feminine hygiene products, baby formula, blanks, tarps (important for keeping cold out, as well as mud and water).
